This symposium invites students and faculty members alike to share and to co-create new knowledge by actively engaging in collaborative workshops, panels, and discussions with policy makers, as well as Montreal shelters and organisations that support homeless women. The symposium’s goal is to highlight current gaps in addressing women’s homelessness in Montreal from a gender sensitive perspective, using a community approach. Members of the community who provide services for women are aware of research gaps, and other needs that are not clearly communicated or dealt with. Therefore, more collaborative efforts are necessary to address the many gaps that remain. With this symposium we will facilitate an interactive space for sharing information and identifying critical paths for action and future research on social policy and planning around women and homelessness in Montreal.
