The Department of Education Graduate students will be hosting our annual interdisciplinary symposium on the theme Reshaping Education: Connections, Communities and Criticality. Scheduled for April 11, 2014, this interdisciplinary symposium will bring students together for a day of presentations and academic discourse about pressing educational issues.

This year, we have decided to emphasize themes of sustainability and civic education in our programming. For our afternoon keynote speaker, we have invited Professor Awad Ibrahim from University of Ottawa, a Curriculum Theorist with special interest in cultural studies, social justice and community service learning. Additionally, Dr. Adeela Arshad-Ayaz and Dr. Ayaz Naseem from the Department of Education will be facilitating a workshop on sustainable practice in education. We have invited an SAF representative to present the results of the recent curriculum study. Finally, we are also collaborating with McGill graduate students in Education to present a panel discussion on sustainability in education.
