On October 31st, 2013, the People’s Potato planted its first ever crop of garlic. Almost one year later on September 2nd, 2014 the People’s Potato served its first meals with its very own local & organic garlic. Absolutely delicious!

Approximately 2200 heads of local, organic garlic were produced for the next year of serving, which will be incorporated into approximately 70 000 meals for students and community members. The project lead to the prevention of 450 packs non-recyclable packaging of garlic from going to a landfill, and provided garden volunteer opportunities for 15-20 new volunteers over the summer and early fall.
