Concordia’s Department of Geography, Planning and Environment (GPE) commits to advancing sustainability in its curriculum and social engagements. Part of this is the inclusion of Indigenous Peoples’ perspectives which are acknowledged in the fields of Geography and Environment as being rooted in more sustainable worldviews (thinking holistically, intimate relationships with the natural world, and a strong sense of respect and responsibility to all relations (human and non-human). In the Winter 2018 semester, the department feels it is important to make space for Indigenous voices, particularly in a course like this, we is working in bringing in seven Indigenous guest speakers to the class. The GPE department can contribute a modest $450 to offer honorariums for two speakers, however we request additional support.
