Since 2008, Concordia’s Department of Theatre has organized a biennial, three-credit course wherein a group of students have the opportunity to study at Bread and Puppet Theatre at their farm in Glover, Vermont. This year, because of budget cuts and the implementation of a new curriculum, the theatre department was not able to offer the course as planned. Instead, an internship will be co-financed by the department and the petitioning students. They will participate for ten immersive and intensive days of learning about sustainable and socially conscious theatre creation in an internship course.

The students will work with renowned theatre-maker Peter Schumann and his company, receiving hands-on experience in puppetry, performance creation, farming, and sustainable art practices. Upon their return, the Concordia student group will host a one day public workshop in political performance and puppetry fabrication using recycled materials held at Concordia.
