The Entomo Collective is an initiative aimed at Concordia students to advocate for entomophagy, the practice of eating insects. We will have a stall at the Concordia farmers market every week where we will share insect snacks, have conversations, and get feedback and ideas with students, staff, and anyone else. We will also hold promotional entomophagy events where we serve edible insects, do workshops on how to farm mealworms and cook with them, invite guest speakers, and have participatory activities. We hope to examine the barriers that exist in North America towards eating insects and try to break them down by normalizing the concept and advocating for its sustainable and nutritional benefits.
