This project invites performers, artists, and cultural facilitators from the community to share their talent and knowledge with participants from the centre for arts in human development (CADH) and the Concordia University student body. CADH serves individuals with intellectual disabilities and neurodivergent participants who rarely have opportunities to socialize with the Concordia Loyola community and who often face financial and mobility barriers to attending arts and cultural events. Hosting inclusive events on campus removes these barriers while fostering social interaction, community belonging, and engagement. The project also offers Concordia students the chance to attend events, engage with artists, and socialize with both peers and CAHD participants. Starting in March, programming includes an ongoing Zumba class, a circus arts visis from Le Collectif 4237, a Creative Arts Therapies Techniques demonstration during the annual Open House, and a film and media production workshop with Spectrum Productions.
Outcomes include increased participation of CAHD participants in creative activities, enhanced social engagement, heightened student awareness of accessibility and inclusion, strengthened community partnerships, and a sustainable model for inclusive cultural engagement. Evaluation will use attendance tracking, surveys, and partner consultation to measure impact.
