iWant2BeOnTV’s Adult Spelling Bee is a quite literal title for a transdisciplinary broadcasted
performance of an adult spelling bee theatricalized with absurd consequences and musical guests. The
event will take place on Friday, June 26th, 2026 at La Sala Rossa, a 300 capacity room with a rich
history of fostering arts and music in Montreal, for the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival which showcases
local and international avant-garde music and political arts. The team will have a total talent, cast and
crew of approximately 46 people with musicians, actors, theatre crew, film crew and production staff.
With the ever-racing advancement of AI generated video and it’s prevalence in our consumed
contemporary media, iWant2BeOnTV’s Adult Spelling Bee serves to promote resistance against that.
The event utilizes the historical framework of independent public access television to create live,
interdisciplinary spectacles that challenge contemporary media consumption.
iWant2BeOnTV is explicitly queer-focused, with its cast and crew drawn primarily from the LGBTQ+
community. Queerness informs our work as a politic and method, used to undermine hierarchical power
structures and normative gazes, even when queerness is not the literal subject matter. This creates a
space that is inherently queer by nature, prioritizing play, satire, and agency in representation above
expectations.
